    Easy Tips For Biscuit Making

After you mix the Popeyes biscuit dough, you will need to roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick before you cut it into biscuits. The biscuits will rise as they bake so this is the perfect thickness for amazing biscuits.

Once you roll out the biscuit dough, you will cut the dough into biscuit shapes using a biscuit cutter or glass. If you use a glass, it is helpful to dip the glass in a bit of flour or coat the rin in some flour so that the glass does not stick to the dough.

When you have cut biscuits from all of the dough, there will be some dough left. Don’t let it go to waste. Gather the remaining dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch again and cut biscuits from the remaining dough. Once there is no longer enough dough to cust biscuits from, pat the remaining dough into a rough biscuit shape and bake with the biscuits.

Unlike a lot of other biscuit recipes, this Popeyes biscuit recipe calls for melting butter in the bottom of the 9×13 inch baking pan. Then, once the biscuits are cut, you will place them in the pan and coat well with the butter so that the outside almost fries in the butter while the biscuits are baking. This gives them the nice crunchy texture just like the ones at Popeye’s Fried Chicken restaurants.

This recipe calls for 1 stick of butter, but if you want an even more buttery flavor, you can pour a little melted butter over the top after the biscuits are in the baking pan just before you pop them in the oven.

This sounds like a lot of process, but it really only takes about 5 minutes. Try this easy Popeye biscuit recipe and I KNOW you won’t be disappointed!

    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup butter, melted
    1 tsp. baking powder

    Notes

I like to bake my cornbread in a cast iron frying pan. I grease it with bacon grease and heat the pan in the oven while it is preheating. As soon as it is hot (about 5 minutes of so or the amount of time it takes to mix the batter) I pour the cornbread batter into the pan and bake it.

This confetti chicken recipe is especially quick if you use leftover chicken and rice in it. I call this type of recipe a dump and mix recipe. Irish Corned Beef And Cabbage Recipe And Soda Bread!

If you’d like to serve a yummy St. Patrick’s Day themed meal, here are some traditional recipes to get you in the mood for the “wearin’ o’ the green”! This is a great week to stock up on corned beef, which you can really serve anytime so grab a couple of extras and put them in the freezer for later! Don’t forget to grab an extra cabbage to make cole slaw later in the week!

This Irish corned beef and cabbage recipe is a traditional Irish American meal made as part of St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Enjoy it with the Irish soda bread and Blarney Stone cookies recipes also included in this post!

Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage with Traditional St. Patrick’s Day Recipes!

If you’d like to serve a fun and festive meal for St. Patrick’s Day, this simple Irish-inspired menu is a great way to celebrate the “wearin’ o’ the green” without spending a fortune! These classic recipes come together into a hearty, comforting meal that feels special but still uses basic ingredients you can easily find at the grocery store.

Grocery stores almost always put corned beef on sale for St. Patrick’s Day. Even if you only plan to cook one brisket now, it’s a smart idea to grab an extra while the price is low and toss it in the freezer. Corned beef freezes well and can be used later for soups, sandwiches, or another easy family dinner.

A traditional Irish-American St. Patrick’s Day meal usually centers around corned beef and cabbage, and for good reason. It’s hearty, delicious, and feeds a crowd. The brisket slowly simmers until tender, soaking up the seasoning while the vegetables cook right alongside it. Potatoes, carrots, onions, and cabbage make it a complete meal in one pot, which means fewer dishes and an easy dinner for busy families.

One helpful tip when serving corned beef is to slice it across the grain. This simple step makes the meat much more tender and easier to chew. Another great trick is to save the cooking juices after dinner. If you have leftovers, dice the remaining corned beef and use those flavorful juices to make a simple corned beef soup later in the week.

While you’re shopping for your corned beef dinner, consider grabbing an extra cabbage as well! Cabbage is inexpensive and versatile, and it’s perfect for making a quick batch of homemade coleslaw later in the week. Stocking up on seasonal sale items like this is an easy way to stretch your grocery budget.

To round out the meal, serve your corned beef and cabbage with homemade Irish soda bread. This classic bread has a slightly crisp crust and a soft, dense interior that pairs perfectly with hearty meals. It’s wonderful served warm with butter, and any leftovers are fantastic toasted the next morning. You can even use leftover soda bread to make French toast for a special breakfast.

And of course, no St. Patrick’s Day celebration is complete without a little something sweet! Blarney Stone cookies are a simple and festive treat made by adding green coloring to your favorite sugar cookie recipe. They’re fun for kids to help decorate and add the perfect finishing touch to your holiday meal.

Together, these recipes create an easy, budget-friendly St. Patrick’s Day menu your family will look forward to year after year. Sláinte! 🍀

    • Yield: 10-12 biscuits

    Ingredients

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    5 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 scant cup milk

    Instructions

    1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
    2. Cut in butter with a fork or pastry blender until it resembles cornmeal.
    3. Add milk, stirring enough to combine ingredients. Do not over stir.
    4. Put dough on a lightly floured surface and gather into a ball. If the dough is sticky add a little flour to help form the ball.
    5. Knead lightly 5-10 times.
    6. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter or a glass rim that has been dipped in flour.
    7. Put onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 425° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 10-12 baking powder biscuits.

These biscuits are a great part of a big breakfast, but they also work well with virtually any dinner menu! They only take a few minutes to prepare, so you can make a batch and let them bake while you get the rest of your meal on the table! We usually set them in a basket with a clean kitchen towel laid inside and then fold the top of the towel over the biscuits to keep them warm when they’re on the table.

The kids have always loved them and if we find out we’re suddenly having company over or we’re headed to a potluck and I forgot to make something, this recipe is a quick and easy apple muffin recipe to bring!

This recipe is a super easy way to use up those leftover bits of applesauce still left in the jar that nobody seems to want to use. If you have an unfinished apple or leftover apple slices, this recipe is a great way to use them!

These applesauce muffins are very moist with a wonderful apple flavor! The cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg makes a delightful crunchy topping – for that home-baked yummy goodness that brings a little holiday at grandma’s house type nostalgia! This easy sour cream blueberry muffin recipe makes moist and delicious blueberry muffins! It’s a classic, foolproof recipe that everyone is sure to love!

    • Author: Jill Cooper

    Ingredients

    2 cups baking mix (Bisquick)
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 eggs
1 cup (8 oz.) sour cream
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375°.
    2. Mix biscuit mix, sugar, eggs, and sour cream in order just until combined.
    3. Fold in blueberries.
    4. Pour into greased muffin tins 3/4 full.
    5. Sprinkle with a little sugar on top.
    6. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

    Notes

    • Take these muffins to the next level. When you first take them out of the oven, dip the tops into melted butter and then in a mix of cinnamon and sugar.
    • Feel free to substitute the blueberries with other fruits like raspberries or blackberries for a delicious twist.
    • To make these muffins even more indulgent, you can add a streusel topping made with flour, brown sugar, and butter before baking.
    • These muffins can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Simply reheat them in the microwave or oven before serving.

    Tips:

    • When using frozen blueberries in things like muffins or pancakes, do not thaw the berries before adding them to the batter.
    • When you just have a little dab of tea left over in the pot or pitcher and you want to make another pot, pour the leftover tea into an ice cube tray and freeze. Then use the tea cubes in place of ice cubes the next time you make ice tea.
    • For years, many people used baking soda in their refrigerators to help absorb odors, including myself. I always wondered why my refrigerator still smelled if something accidentally didn’t get covered properly. I kept thinking “This soda isn’t working” but “they” said it would help so I kept using it.  I recently heard that experts have discovered baking soda really doesn’t absorb as well as we are led to believe but charcoal does a much better job. The charcoal used in aquariums works the best but you can also try placing a few charcoal briquets in the refrigerator to see if that will help. (Don’t use the easy light ones with lighter fluid built in…)The main way to reduce bad odors in the refrigerator is to really cover everything well.

    Ingredients

    Cookie Crust:

2 cups cookie crumbs (gingersnaps add to the spice flavor)
    1/4 tsp. ground ginger
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    6 Tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar, packed

    Cheesecake Filling:

2 (8 oz.) blocks full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
    1 cup pumpkin puree*
    3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
    2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice*
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 container whipped topping

    Optional Toppings:

    Additional whipped cream
    Salted caramel sauce

    Instructions

    1. In a medium bowl, combine cookie crumbs, ginger, cinnamon, sugar, and melted butter. Stir until evenly moistened.
    2. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9- or 10-inch springform pan. Use the bottom of a measuring cup to pack it tightly.
    3. Freeze for 10–20 minutes while you make the filling.
    4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese on medium speed until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
    5. Add the pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, and brown sugar. Beat on medium-high until fully combined and smooth.
    6. Mix in vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt. Beat until no lumps remain.

    9. Smooth the top and cover tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
    10. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably 12 hours or overnight, to allow the cheesecake to set.

    12. Top with extra whipped cream or drizzle with salted caramel sauce, if desired.

    Notes

    • For extra flavor in the crust, toast the cookie crumbs lightly before mixing.
    • Make-ahead friendly: Cheesecake can be refrigerated up to 2 days before serving.

    Ingredients

4 cups white chocolate chips, (24 oz., weight not liquid)
    1 cup sweetened condensed milk
    2 1/2 Tbsp. pumpkin puree
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin spice
1/21 cup ground pecans or walnuts (optional)

    • Author: Sarah D.

    Ingredients

1 cake mix (any flavor works, but chocolate is our hands down favorite!)
1 can pumpkin or 2 cups mashed cooked pumpkin
1 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°.
    2. Beat the ingredients together with an electric mixer until smooth. (It will be really thick.)
    3. Add 1 cup mini chocolate chips and stir.
    4. Line muffin tins with paper muffin cups and spray with non-stick spray.
    5. Use an ice cream scoop to put the batter into the muffin cups. (I can get 24 from one box of mix.)
    6. Bake for 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    7. Cool and frost if desired.

    Notes

    • My family likes these muffins just as they are when they are hot from the oven.
    • Spice cake mix is great – add white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or butterscotch chips.
    • I have made pumpkin muffins with white cake mix and yellow cake mix too. They have around 120 calories a piece with the mini chocolate chips and are virtually fat free. If you are on weight watchers they only count as 1 point.
    • This is a fabulous way to sneak some vitamin A rich veggies in on the kids. Just don’t let them see you put the pumpkin into the muffins and they will never know it is there. These are more moist than name brand very expensive double chocolate chip muffins.

    How To Roast A Pumpkin

You can only do this with a freshly carved pumpkin! Do not use on a pumpkin that has been carved and sitting out for several days.

To bake a fresh 6 to 7 pound pumpkin, halve the pumpkin crosswise and scoop out the seeds and strings. Place halves, hollow side down, in a large baking pan covered with aluminum foil and add a little water. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until fork-tender. Remove. When cool, scrape pulp from shells and puree, a little at time, in food processor or blender. Mix with a little salt.

To freeze pumpkin puree. Put 1-2 cups in freezer bags along with spices and use in pies.

To use pumpkin puree for recipes: Line a strainer with a double layer of cheesecloth or a flour sack dish towel and let the pumpkin sit to drain out the extra moisture BEFORE cooking with it. Pumpkin is very moist, so in order for your recipe to come out correctly, you MUST strain it.

A 5 lb pumpkin makes about 4 1/2 cups of mashed (pureed) pumpkin.
a 15-16 oz can of pumpkin equals about 2 cups of mashed pumpkin.
So if the recipe calls for a 15-16 oz can of pumpkin use 2 cups.

Make your life easier, especially your meals. My kids loved this recipe below and I always felt guilty because it was so quick and easy to make.

    Quick Chicken and Dumplings

2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans chicken noodle soup
    2 soup cans of water

    Dumplings

    2 cups baking mix
    ⅔ cup milk

Pour soup and water into a Dutch oven (large pan) and bring to a boil. While you are waiting for that to boil, mix the baking mix and milk for the dumplings in a bowl. When soup is boiling, drop dumpling mix by large tablespoonfuls on top of soup, which makes the dumplings. Cook uncovered 10 minutes. Cover and cook another 10 minutes. DO NOT PEEK or you dumplings will be soggy.

The dumplings will look like fluffy biscuits.

You can add a bay leaf, some left over cooked carrots, peas or extra chicken to the soup  if you have it.

I have 3 boys and one of their favorite easy Bisquick recipes is this homemade Hot Pockets recipe! My boys like them with seasoned ground beef and cheese because they’re not very adventurous about the texture, but you could easily add onions, peppers, fresh garlic, Italian sausage, pepperoni or mix it up and fill it with Philly ingredients! Pretty much anything you might find in the store bought Hot Pockets or restaurant calzones would be delicious!

Another of our easy Bisquick recipes is this quick and easy cinnamon rolls recipe! It is so super easy making yummy cinnamon rolls, you won't want to buy the expensive pre-made ones again! This is a recipe the entire family will love! Find more easy bisquick recipes here!

    Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls

    4 cups baking mix
    1¼ cup buttermilk
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 cup brown sugar
    ¼ cup  sugar
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    ½ cup nuts, chopped
    2 Tbsp. butter melted
¾ cup butter, melted and cooled
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1-2 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Preheat oven to 375°.

In a bowl, combine the Bisquick (baking mix), buttermilk and sugar in a bowl using a fork. Mix to create a dough, just until everything is combined. The dough will be sticky.

In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and nuts and set aside.

To roll the dough, first flour the rolling surface. Use a generous amount of flour to make handling easier as the dough will be sticky. Turn the dough out onto the surface. Flour your hands well and pat the dough into a rectangular shape with your hand. Use a rolling pin to thin to about ½ inch thickness.

Once rolled out, pour the melted butter over the dough. Spread butter evenly to the edges with a pastry brush. Sprinkle sugar/nut mixture over the butter.

Start rolling the dough from the long end to form a log. Slice into 1½ inch slices. I use dental floss to slice mine. It works well without flattening the pastry.

Transfer the sliced cinnamon rolls to a well greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 25-30 minutes, until just golden brown on tops. Let sit for 5 minutes to cool slightly.

Combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until desired consistency and drizzle over topped of rolls.
