This Orange Julius recipe makes a delicious creamy orange smoothie that everyone loves, especially on hot days in the summer! It tastes just like the Orange Julius recipe most of us have had at the mall.

This recipe is wonderful to make for the kids when they come in after a long day out or when sitting out with your friends. It is super easy to make in just 5 minutes with common ingredients you probably already have, so if you didn’t plan ahead, you still probably have what you need to make it!

This easy Orange Julius recipe makes a creamy orange smoothie that tastes just like the ones at the mall. Starting with orange juice and ice cream, it makes a perfectly refreshing cool treat for warm summer days!

    • Author: Tawra Kellam
    • Yield: 4 servings

    Ingredients

1/3 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 cup milk
    5-6 ice cubes
    1/4 cup sugar
    2 scoops vanilla ice cream
    1/2 cup water (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Combine all of the ingredients in blender until smooth.
    2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

This Orange Julius recipe can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. Serves 4.

    Notes

If you like, you can add other things like strawberries, banana, pineapple or coconut. If a smoothie-type ingredient sounds good to you, you can probably add it!

    For Dairy Free:

If you’re dairy free, you can substitute coconut milk for the milk and vanilla coconut milk ice cream in place of the ice cream.

You can use Coconut Silk, but it will result in a thinner smoothie. It is better to use coconut milk in a can, if possible, because it has a thicker consistency and will more resemble a smoothie or shake.

This easy Orange Julius recipe is from Volume 1 of our cookbook:

Mother’s Day Brunch Recipes – Easy And Delicious Breakfast For Mom!

Here are some easy Mother’s Day brunch recipes to make breakfast extra special for Mom! Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, breakfast muffins and more!

Here are some easy Mother's Day brunch recipes to make breakfast extra special for Mom! Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, breakfast muffins and more!

You discreetly open one eye and scan the room. Maybe if you don’t move they will think you are still sleeping. Crash! The door flies open, the scrambled eggs go airborne and you know they have found you out! There they stand in the doorway – your family, grinning from ear to ear. It’s another Mother’s Day and once again they are treating you like a goddess- bringing you a tray full of burnt offerings (known in our culture as breakfast in bed).

There’s blackened toast, large brown lumps you think may be scrambled eggs, coffee “paste”, and oh, are these strips of bacon, beef jerky or dog treats? Then of course you look at their smiling faces full of love and you are reminded how blessed you are. Gratefully, you pick up your fork and start eating. Has anything ever tasted more like manna from heaven?

If you’d rather be able to identify your Mother’s Day breakfast this year, then discreetly slip these Mother’s Day brunch recipes to your husband or children so that he can make sure that this heartwarming moment is also a tasty memory for you!

Easy Breakfast Tips For Mother’s Day Brunch And More!

    • You can do so many things with breadstick dough. One of those things is to take a sausage and wrap it with breadstick dough and bake at 350° until brown (about 15 minutes). You can also take these on a camping trip. Stick the sausage on a stick, wrap with dough and cook over the campfire, turning until golden brown.
    • Coffee cake isn’t just for breakfast. Serve it for dessert with ice cream or drizzle it with some caramel or chocolate syrup.
    • To use leftover coffee cake, cube it to make bread pudding or in a trifle.
    • If you are in a hurry, most coffee cake recipes can be made into muffins. Pour the batter into muffin cups and if it calls for streusel topping, sprinkle a little over each muffin. Bake at the same temperature as the coffee cake but only bake for about 1/4 the amount of time or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
    • To kick any coffee cake up a notch, sprinkle it with powdered sugar or brown sugar or drizzle with a glaze.

    Easy Mother’s Day Brunch Recipes

Serve any of the Mother’s Day brunch recipes in today’s post with some fruit, juice, coffee or tea. You can pick and choose how elaborate you want the Mother’s Day breakfast to be, with as few as one or two breakfast recipes or a full brunch spread!

If you’re making these recipes for your wife or mother, you can make breakfast extra special by serving it with a small bouquet of flowers, pretty dishes, fancy doilies, fancy folded napkins or anything creative you want to use to make her feel like it is more special than a regular breakfast! If it doesn’t work out perfectly, don’t worry! Mom will appreciate it because you made it for her!

These Mother’s Day brunch recipes can be used for any special occasion, so they also work well for holidays like Easter, Christmas, the weekend after Thanksgiving or any time you have guests.

Here’s a classic homemade pancake recipe, perfect for breakfast anytime! If you’ve never made them, pancakes are easy to make. The key is not to let the pan get too hot so they don’t burn. Cook them on medium heat, but if the pan or griddle starts to get too hot, turn it down a little as you go.

Pour out the batter in small circles or if you want them about the same size, you can measure it out with a ladle or turkey baster. When the edges start to set and bubbles form over the tops, they are ready to turn over. If you’re not sure, you can carefully try to slide a spatula under one of them and if it starts to fall apart, it’s not quite time to flip.

    • Yield: 15-18 medium pancakes

    Ingredients

    2 eggs
2 cups flour, all-purpose or wheat
    1 1/2 cups milk
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    5 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt

    Instructions

    1. In a bowl, mix ingredients, just enough to moisten the dry ingredients. The mixture will be thick and lumpy.
    2. Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease.
    3. Cook the pancakes on a hot greased griddle.
    4. Flip when bubbles break on the surface and the edges begin to dry. Makes 15-18 medium pancakes.

Scrambled eggs are an easy breakfast item that’s almost foolproof and perfect to include with other Mother’s Day brunch recipes if you’re setting out a big breakfast buffet. As long as you keep an eye on them so they don’t burn, they are easy to make! The recipe calls for margarine, but any oil or grease will work. I like to use bacon grease because it adds a nice flavor boost!

I usually don’t make scrambled eggs with the milk or water, but if you’d like them to be a little extra fluffy, you might try it!

    Ingredients

4 slices bacon (we used turkey bacon and veggie bacon)
    3 eggs
    3 Tbsp. milk
    salt and pepper
    1 can biscuits (10 biscuits)
1/3 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

    Instructions

    1. Cook the bacon until it’s almost done.
    2. Chop into small bits and set aside.
    3. Preheat the oven to 400°.
    4. Whisk together eggs, milk and a pinch of salt and pepper (to taste).
    5. Roll out each biscuit until it’s slightly bigger than the circumference of your muffin tin.
    6. Grease the muffin tin.
    7. Push one biscuit into each muffin cup, making sure to push it all the way down and to the sides. Leave the ridge hanging over the edge.
    8. Divide the cheese evenly in each of the biscuit cups.
    9. Then pour in egg, filling each cup only halfway. They will look empty, but resist the urge to top them off because they will puff up when baked.
    10. Sprinkle bacon over the top of the egg.
    11. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden and eggs are set.
    12. Use a butter knife to loosen each muffin. Serve warm.

    Notes

If your egg does overflow, just let it bake the rest of the way. Then remove the extra egg when you are loosening the muffins.

Hot chocolate is a yummy drink to warm you on a cold day, especially during the holidays! Here's an easy jar mix recipe for hot chocolate or hot strawberry!

There is nothing to warm you on a cold day like the old stand-by, hot chocolate! If you like to try something new every once in a while or if you have family or friends who don’t like chocolate (Is there such a person? : ) ) on your gift list, here is something different– Strawberry hot chocolate. Try dipping the rim of the glass in some melted white chocolate chips for a more festive look.

Take your favorite hot chocolate mix or use the one I have included below and replace the chocolate Nestle Quik with Strawberry Quik and the chocolate pudding with vanilla pudding. Serve hot with whipped cream or marshmallows, topping it all with red sugar or sprinkles for a really festive look.

    Ingredients

    10 2/3 cups dry milk
    1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 lb. (2 cups) Nestle Quik (chocolate or strawberry)*
    1 1/2 cups non-dairy creamer
2 small packages instant chocolate (or vanilla) pudding mix**
    1 tsp. salt

    Instructions

    1. Sift the ingredients into a large bowl.
    2. Place the mix in airtight containers.

You can make this for your family or as a jar mix gift. If you are making it for a gift:

    Attach this to the jar:

    Hot Chocolate

5 Tbsp. (1/3 cup) Hot Chocolate Mix
1 cup hot water (not boiling)
    marshmallows or whipped cream

Place the Hot Chocolate Mix into a mug. Add water. Stir until Hot Chocolate mix is dissolved. Garnish as desired with marshmallows or whipped cream. Serves 1.

    Notes

*I am so picky about hot chocolate made with water because, even in the best recipes, it still doesn’t have that made with milk taste so I add an extra 2 cups of Nestle Quik to my recipe on top of what is written above for the perfect taste.

**You might add a package of white chocolate or cheesecake pudding for a different flavor in place of one of the vanilla pudding mixes.

This easy Raspberry White Hot Chocolate Recipe is a different kind of warm and tasty drink that’s great for cool days. Fresh raspberries and white chocolate make a nice change from regular hot chocolate! Try it! I think you’ll like it!

    Ingredients

12 oz. raspberries, fresh or defrosted from frozen
    2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    2 cups milk
    1/2 cup cream
6 oz. white chocolate, finely chopped*
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    Pinch salt

    Instructions

    1. Sprinkle the sugar on the raspberries.
    2. Toss to combine.
    3. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, until they start to soften and release their juices.
    4. Blend the raspberries in a blender.
    5. Pour the raspberry puree through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the seeds. You should be left with about 3/4 cup of raspberry puree. If you have more, save it for another use.
    6. Combine the milk and cream in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer— but don’t bring it to a full boil.
    7. Remove from the heat.
    8. Add the white chocolate.
    9. Whisk until the chocolate is melted.
    10. Add the berry puree, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix.

Serve immediately with whipped cream and fresh berries on top. It can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat it in the microwave or on the stove top.

    Notes

*For the best taste and texture, do not substitute white chips for the chopped white chocolate bar. White chocolate chips tend to be hard to melt.

    Instructions

Here’s an easy variation for strawberry lemonade! You can make this strawberry lemonade starting with our fresh homemade lemonade recipe above or you can take a shortcut like our reader did and start with store-bought lemonade.

Here's an easy and refreshing strawberry lemonade perfect for warm days. A reader shares ideas for keeping it cool without getting diluted!

This easy idea was submitted by Sheri, a reader:

    Easy Strawberry Lemonade

I have served strawberry lemonade for two or three wedding rehearsal dinners.  I made up the lemonade and dropped in frozen strawberries to keep the lemonade cool without diluting it.  You can also freeze the strawberries in a mold with lemonade to do the same thing.  It is so simple and people like to have their own strawberries in their cups.

I buy the lemonade mix at Smart and Final in the gallon size, that makes up 6 gallons and I make 7 gallons with it.  I get compliments on how refreshing my lemonade tastes because it is not as sweet as full strength.  I have an empty gallon jug marked where to fill the concentrate to before adding water for one gallon of lemonade.

Here’s a trick to keep the lemonade cold when serving in the 5 gallon cooler jug (like an Igloo).  Freeze a clean gallon milk jug with water.  Drop that in the lemonade and keep another milk jug with water in the freezer for when the first one melts, then keep switching them out until the lemonade is gone.  The lemonade stays cold and it doesn’t get diluted.  And…I don’t outrun my ice maker!

Where we live, it’s nice to have something cold on tap outside.  Since we don’t snack between meals and only have water to drink between meals, this is an occasional treat, especially when we have guests.  It makes everyone feel special and gets them outside when the temperatures are in the 100’s.  We have plenty of shade and water play to keep them cool too.  There are just times when they have to go out to play!

    Thank you for your ideas!

Sweet Tea Recipe – How To Make Sweet Tea!

If you want to know how to make sweet tea, here’s an easy sweet tea recipe for a refreshing summer drink! You can save money making a pitcher full of sweet tea for pennies instead of paying several dollars a glass at a restaurant!

If you want to know how to make sweet tea, here's an easy sweet tea recipe for a refreshing summer drink! You can save money making a pitcher full of sweet tea for pennies instead of paying several dollars a glass at a restaurant or convenience store!

How To Make Sweet Tea At Home – Sweet Tea Recipe

Those of you from the South may find a post about how to make sweet tea a little funny because sweet tea is an everyday thing in much of the South and some of you were weaned on the stuff.

There is a whole generation of adults, though, who don’t know how to make sweet tea because sugar was put on the “bad food” list when they were growing up, but surprise, surprise it is once again ok to use sugar in our drinks. Yeahhhh!!!!

Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to buy sweet tea at the fast food restaurants and in the bottles. I cringe every time I see someone pay such a huge amount to buy sweet tea when it is so easy to make and costs only pennies for a pitcher full.

In addition to sweet tea, many people buy bottles of regular and green tea for the antioxidants. Be careful – when tea sits for a while it starts losing its antioxidants, so making fresh sweet tea is best.

To help you save some money on what may be becoming your favorite drink or what might still be an old favorite, here is how to make sweet tea using my easy sweet tea recipe.

Even though I am not officially a true Southerner, I will warn you I drink mine so sweet it will curl your hair. You can adjust the sugar if you want, but try it this way first and see what you think. Part of the secret to good iced tea is having the sugar properly dissolved. Just adding sugar to regular unsweetened cold tea doesn’t get it completely dissolved, but there’s an easy secret to this dilemma when making sweet tea.

Some people make a simple syrup to help dissolve the sugar, but you don’t have to go to all that trouble because this recipe makes it’s own simple syrup with the tea.

    Ingredients

    Units
2 quarts water 3 regular size tea bags 3/4 cup sugar (more or less, to taste)

    Instructions

    1. Boil part of the water (about 3 cups). This doesn’t have to be precisely measured. Just estimate using enough so that when you pour it over the tea bags and sugar, it will cover them well.
    2. While the water is boiling, place the tea bags and sugar into a 2 quart pitcher.
    3. After the water boils, pour it over the tea bags and sugar.
    4. Cover and let it steep for 10-20 minutes, depending on the desired strength (at least 5 minutes if you are in a hurry). I let mine sit for 30 minutes or more.
    5. When the tea is steeped, gently stir it. You don’t want to break the tea bags.
    6. Add more cold water, up to the 2 quart line.
    7. Chill.

    Notes

    • If I will be serving my sweet tea over ice, which is the way I love it, I will only add water to the 1 1/2 quart line instead of 2 quarts so that the tea does not get too diluted as the ice melts.
    • After you taste the tea, you can adjust the sugar and water in the recipe to your own preference.
    • For flavored sweet tea: Use 2 regular tea bags and one flavored tea bag (like peach or raspberry). This adds just the right amount of flavor to the tea. If you like lemon, toss in a slice!

This sweet tea recipe is from volume 1 of our cookbook:

Here are the steps for how to make sweet tea with pictures:

Boil part of the water (about 3 cups). This doesn’t have to be precisely measured. Just estimate using enough so that when you pour it over the tea bags and sugar, it will cover them well.

While the water is boiling, place the tea bags and sugar into a 2 quart pitcher.

How To Make Sweet Tea Pour The Sugar

After the water boils, pour it over the tea bags and sugar. Cover and let it steep for at least 5 minutes if you are in a hurry. I let mine sit for 30 minutes or more (or until I remember that I made it ;-).

Sweet Tea Recipe - Pour boiling water over the tea bags

Then, gently stir it. You don’t want to break the tea bags.

Of course, after you try it, you can adjust the sugar and water to your preference.

Sometimes I will use 2 regular flavored tea bags and one flavored tea bag (like peach or raspberry). This adds just the right amount of flavor to it. If you like lemon, toss in a slice!
