Sweet, gooey, and irresistibly nutty! This easy canned cinnamon rolls recipe transforms simple refrigerated cinnamon rolls with buttery brown sugar caramel and crunchy pecans. Bake, flip, and drizzle with icing for a quick, show-stopping breakfast or dessert.

  • Author: Tawra Kellam

Ingredients

1 can (8-count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
3/4 cup chopped pecans (toasted, if desired)
Optional: a pinch of salt or cinnamon for added flavor

Instructions

  1.  Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or a 9×9 baking dish.
  2. To make the caramel sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar.
  3. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and just beginning to bubble (2–3 minutes). Remove from heat.
  4. Pour the caramel sauce into the bottom of the greased pan.
  5. Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the caramel.
  6. Separate the cinnamon rolls and place them on top of the caramel-pecan mixture, evenly spaced.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through. If they start to brown too quickly, loosely tent with foil.
  8. Let the rolls sit for 3–5 minutes after baking.
  9. Place a serving plate or tray over the pan, then carefully invert (flip) the pan so the caramel and pecans are on top.
  10. Drizzle the included icing over the rolls if desired (optional—it’s already sweet).

Ingredients

2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
1 (21 oz.) can apple pie filling
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly butter a cast iron skillet, 8×8-inch pan (for a thicker bake), or a 9×13-inch pan (for a quicker, thinner bake).
  3. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and place in the prepared pan.
  4. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the rolls and toss gently.
  6. Roughly chop the apples in the pie filling, then spoon evenly over the cinnamon rolls. Lightly toss so everything is spread out in the pan.
  7. Bake for:
    8×8 pan: 40–50 minutes
    9×13 pan: about 20–25 minutes
(Cover loosely with foil if the top starts to brown too quickly.)
  8. Remove from the oven, cool slightly, then drizzle the reserved icing over the top.
