Leftover Easter Marshmallow Peeps Candy

Try these easy ways to use leftover Easter marshmallow peeps candy! Peeps are a favorite Easter candy, but when you have too many, here’s how to use them!

Using Leftover Easter Marshmallow Peeps Candy

Using Leftover Easter Marshmallow Peeps Candy

Easter Marshmallow Peeps Candy are a lot like their friends the chocolate Easter Bunnies – they tend to reproduce and multiply like crazy on Easter Morning. So often, they don’t get eaten and, sadly, lay there for weeks until they get hard enough we can finally throw them out without feeling guilty. This year, save the extra leftover  Peeps candy and maybe even consider buying some when they go on sale after Easter. One year we found leftover Peeps on clearance for .05 a box! We have 2 boys that just love them so we bought everything they had left–around 100 boxes! LOL It took a while but they did all get eaten! You can pretty much use the Peeps candy in place of marshmallows in anything.

  • Use leftover peeps to make S’mores in place of marshmallows.
  • Melt some of their cousins – chocolate bunnies and dip the Peeps into the chocolate like fondue or
  • Melt chocolate bunnies, roll the peeps in them and then in nuts and sprinkles and freeze
  • Use marshmallow Peeps in place of marshmallows for rice crispy treats
  • Melt leftover Peeps candy on top of sweet potatoes
  • Dip in chocolate and dry on waxed paper
  • Topping for dessert pizza
  • Cupcake toppers
  • Fluffernutter sandwich – Spread peanut butter on bread and top with peeps and another slice of bread.
  • Top hot chocolate with your peeps
  • Top chocolate ice cream with cut up leftover peeps and almonds for homemade Rocky Road ice cream.
  • Throw them in the microwave for a few seconds and let the kids watch them explode. (Ok I know this is wasteful but it sure is fun to watch!)
  • Melt some white almond bark and then add some pastel M&M’s and cut up leftover Peeps for Peep Bark.

I actually like my Peeps aged-open the package and let them sit for a few days-this makes the outside a little bit crunchy-I love them this way and won’t eat soft Peeps. Even if I have Peeps saved from last year I still have to open them so they get crunchy.

Stab peeps with a fork and roast over a candle. Toasted marshmallows all year round!

My mom would buy special things (example:Christmas presents at all times of the year) and hide them so we wouldn’t get into them. Sadly (but hysterically), she also had a tendency to forget where she hid them. We would uncover them months and sometimes years later. It wasn’t unusual for me to call downstairs… “oooooo, look at this green sweater! I love it!” And after a moment of silence, followed by a hand-slap on the kitchen table,I’d hear mom call back, “alright, already…. Merry Christmas. (mumble: I wondered where I put that)” ?hahahahaha

Anyway…. this happened most often with candy. Either she bought herself a little treat, or bought it for us to either share at an upcoming party or holiday. It wasn’t unusual at all times of the year to find a pack of easter peeps ina mixing bowl or behind a baking dish. Of course, this was a fantastic treat come August or October.

It was years later, when I started to shop for myself that I happened upon peeps being sold in the store. I went up to pick one up and found out it was … SOFT??? They make them soft? No. No. No. I felt around looking for the nice and hard ones.

Who knew that’s not how they were meant to be! ?

That is too funny McKenna. Actually Tawra is the same way – she loves hard peeps or marshmallows too.

You can do peep jousting. Stick a toothpick in the side of 2 peeps like they are holding spears place them in the microwave an inch or so apart facing each other then turn on the microwave watch them poof up until one pokes and deflates the other peep.

LOL Darline that is a good one and one I have never heard of before and since I have a 13 yr old grandson who loves peeps I am sure he will want to try that.
