Easy Spice Cake Recipe

- Yield: 15 servings
Ingredients
1 cup butter
2 1/4 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp. ground cloves
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream butter and sugar until mixture is very light and fluffy.
- Add eggs. Mix well.
- Mix flour with cloves, cinnamon and salt.
- Add flour, cloves, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and buttermilk. Mix well.
- Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
- When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar or frost with Caramel Frosting.

I made this yesterday for the first time. It is so good! My husband who is not a Spice Cake fan, even liked it. I used Low Fat Buttermilk to cut down on fat. I also used Flaxseed Meal and water as egg substitutes(Vegan eggs) to help boost the nutrition. It came out pretty much perfect and is a new favorite recipe. Thanks for posting it!
