Ummmm… eating uncooked flour (from the cake mix) is very not good for you. I would think twice about that… even considering rice krispie treats are not exact health food.

What do you do with the rest of the cake mix? (I’m too cheap to throw it away, but I don’t want it hanging around either.)

Rosemary you it will keep just find for a long time if you want to make more in the weeks to come or just save it and make it into a cake or cupcakes at a latter date. No way should you throw it away.

You can use the remaining cake mix for Crumble recipes, or take one and a half cups and make one layer of a cake. Use small cake pan. I’ve done that when I wanted cake, but not a whole one. Just reduce water and oil by half too.

Do the Oreo Rice Krispie Treats have any rice krispies in them? If so, I don’t see them in the recipe . . . just confused :)

Thanks for the new ideas! My family loves rice krispy treats and oreo cookies but I had never thought of putting them together and anything with the words “batter” or “dough” are a huge hit around here. :)

Uncooked cake mix should be fine (yes you can eat raw flour wo damage but why would you want to?) as long as there is no raw egg…that’s where the salmonella (& whatever else) comes from

Has anyone tried another flavor cake mix?

I don’t know why you couldn’t use any flavor you want. Chocolate goes with any thing of course :) :) but I don’t know why strawberry, lemon. Kids love most cereals flavored like this. It would make it like fruity pepples. Spice might be fun to try this fall. I think the sky would be the limit.

I have a friend that has made these treats with Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Rings or Cheerios.

My Grandma used to use peanut butter in the mix. Some people put chocolate chips on top and melt them into a crusted layer.

I like Krispy Treats, but not too sweet! I’m thinking that the Oreo Treats would be very sweet! And I like Oreos!
