I’m not a big coffee drinker but do enjoy an occasional latte. This recipe was a bit strong for me so I only put 1 tblsp. in each cup and also add some powdered flavored creamer. YUM! And a whole lot cheaper!!!

I’m going to have to try this. It’s in the cookbook? I’ll look tonight when I get home.

Is your cocoa the powder your use to make chocolate milk, or true bitter (Dutch-processed, I think it is called) cocoa?

Frenchy it is the bitter or unsweetened cocoa. In most of our recipes when we say cocoa that is what we mean.

    Yum!

I just tried a Bananas Foster Cappuccino from Quik Trip this morning-Wow, was it good. I think they must use Banana extract/flavoring. I’m going to buy some and try and make my own. It was only a dollar-not bad, but I bet I can make it cheaper.

Jill and Tawra-snow there, yet? We are getting dumped on in Kansas City. It’s beautiful, though!

sure might move there. walked to the post office today and it was -27 c with a wind chill of -37c.
just glad the wind wasn’t blowing for the short time I was out.
getting warmer so it is supposed to snow tomorrow.
will sit inside and knit. been doing so much of that this past few days I am becoming a knitting machine. 30 outfits done just have to sew them up and pack them in a box until they are ready for giving away.
I like your house tawra with the fireplace. Would love to have one to curl up in front of.

Made this last night. Thank you its great. I actually used Splenda instead of sugar.

Question- mine is clumping though when I put the hot water in it, I am having to strain it before drinking. Have you experienced this?

Anyways, the taste is great and will save us some ca$h!

Christine, did you use boiling water or just hot? You might try boiling.

It sounded like you did this but sometimes putting the mix in the cup first then adding the water instead of adding the mix to the water works best. Also you could try putting the mix in the cup then adding 2-3 tablespoons of water to it stir into a paste then add the rest of the water.

This must be a normal thing that happens because I always see these gift packets of mix sold at Christmas and they have a mini whisk with them.

Hi Tawra – I tried both. I will keep working with it. The taste was good enough to stop me from going to starbucks today! Thank you!

Jill – I will try that.. almost like when you are making gravy and starting with a little bit at a time.

    Thanks Ladies!

It also helps if the cocoa powder is really mixed up with the milk powder and the sugar.

I am so grateful for your recipe of Swiss Mocha. What I was buying has been discontinued.
    Perfect timing. Thank you

You are so welcome Joan. I too hate it when something I love has been discontinued.

Mine is clumping still clumps after it is strained. I tried boiling water, still clumps. So disappointed.

Not sure what could be wrong Donna because the dry milk should dissolve and the other ingredients. Did you process it in a blender because that will help a great deal with something like that. Also you have to use boiling water not just hot water.
