Stephanie
Can you use butter instead?
Jill
Yes you can use butter.
Bea
I made thise recipe and it’s so good. I found Junior Mints at Dollar Tree and came home and made this dessert. It’s amazing how the Junior Mints melt and there is no physical trace of them. It makes such a light and fluffy mousse.
Jill
Good idea Bea to get the mints at the Dollar Tree because sometimes they can be expensive.
Bea
When I went shopping at the Dollar Tree I also picked up sour cream and made that Cinnamon Sour Cream Fruit Dip you have on this site, so I was thrilled. Yepee!

what are Junior Mints? What company makes them? I am not familiar with many kinds of candy.
Tawra
They are a soft mint that is covered in chocolate.
Jill
You can also find the junior mints with the boxes of theater candy which now they have here at Wal Mart, Walgreens and even our grocery stores. If you can’t find them you could probably replace them with 2-3 York peppermint patties (jr. mints are pretty much the same thing) or in Dining on a Dime there is a recipe for party mints on page 265 which is the same as York Peppermint patties. It would take more work since you have to make up the mints first but if you can’t find the other this would work. The Party mints are really easy to make too.

I love this recipe, it is such a hit with my husband and kids. I now try recipes instead of just reading about them and so economical too. I live on a budget and now plan on making a lot more of these recipes. Thanks for writing the best cookbook ever.
Jill
Oh Joan thank you so much. I am really glad you are enjoying the cookbook and the recipes. I had to chuckle when you said you are now trying the recipes instead of just reading about them. I know I did that myself for years and I think many others do to. : ) : ) Glad your family liked the recipe.

If you didn’t like mints could you make this just as a plain chocolate mousse and about how many servings does this make?
Jill
You can Patricia. In place of the junior mints just use plain chocolate. As far as servings go it usually depends on how big of servings you dish up but it should easily serve 4 and most of the time when we don’t give serving sizes it is for 4 people.
