What Easter Means to Me

To me, Easter is the best day of the year! I can’t even imagine what my life or my children’s lives would be like without Easter. Even though many people don’t want to admit it, the strength of our country and so many wonderful things about the world would not have been the same if Easter had never happened.

As much as I wish I could remember that every day should be like Easter, I like many others fall short in the daily rut of living and sometimes forget just what Christ did for me. When that happens, I sing the words to this song below which has always reminded me what Easter is about and what it means to me.

We often think of what Christ did as happening so many years ago in another far away land but each time I sin with an unkind word, being judgmental, having a prideful attitude, gossiping, worrying, getting angry, being rebellious or just not following Him, I hurt Him as much as if I was there that day they crucified Him and yet He just keeps loving me anyway. How can I wrap my mind around that kind of love?

But Still He Loved Me

I scourged the back of Jesus,  with thorns I crowned His head.
I cursed Him and I mocked Him, I longed to see Him dead.
I laughed with scorn as I followed Him up the path to Calvary,
I nailed His hands upon a cross and His blood ran at my feet.

But still He loved me, near death forgave me,
By grace He save me, from all my sin
My heart is filled with pain, as I behold the stain
His blood has made for me, at Calvary

His friends removed His lifeless form, the king of the Jews was dead.
They took Him to His palace, and there they laid His head.
His palace was a cold dark tomb around which guards did tread,
And then that morn they cried,”He’s gone,” He had risen from the dead.

Yet still He loved me, through death forgave me,
By grace He saved me, from all my sins
He now lives in my heart, from where He’ll ne’er depart,
This Christ who died for me at Calvary.

That’s lovely. And it’s a nice reminder to everyone that Easter is a HOLY DAY (holiday) that brings hope because of what our Lord did for us. It’s about His sacrifice of Love and it’s wonderful meaning for us.

SISTERS AND I WERE GROWING UP MY MOTHER WOULD

MY SON AND SHE IS ALWAYS WAITING AT THE DOOR
FOR US. I WANTED TO KEEP HER WITH ME BUT I
RECENTLY HAD A KNEE REPLACEMENT AND A HIP AND
I COULD NOT PULL ON HER AT ALL. BUT WE LIVE
IN THE COUNTRY IN FLORIDA AND MY SON AND I LIVE
IN THE BIG WHITE HOUSE THAT HE WAS RAISED IN
AND HIS BROTHER THAT WE LOST WITH CANCER.
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO ME TO LET YOU KNOW

Thank you, Tawra, for your wonderful testimony. I would like to find the music to that song. Perhaps it is in one of the hymnbooks I have. I, too, have accepted Jesus and His death for me and forgiveness of my sins so I know I have the assurance of Heaven some day.
