Easy Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

Soup Ingredients

4 cups chicken broth
1/21 1/2 cups chicken or turkey, cooked
1/2 cup celery, sliced
1/2 cup carrots, sliced
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. parsley flakes

Dumplings Ingredients

2 cups baking mix
1/4 tsp. thyme, dried
1/2 tsp. parsley flakes
2/3 cup milk


  1. In a Dutch oven, combine broth, chicken, celery, carrots, bay leaf and parsley.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. In a bowl, combine the baking mix, thyme, and parsley.
  4. Stir in milk just until moistened.
  5. Drop by tablespoonfuls into the boiling broth.
  6. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes.
  7. Then cover and cook an additional 10 minutes. DO NOT PEEK or your dumplings will be soggy.
  8. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve in bowls.
  9. Remove the bay leaf and spoon the broth over the top of the dumplings.
