This easy homemade cream of chicken soup recipe makes an easy soup with ingredients you already have at home. You can eat as-is or use it as a base for other recipes that call for cream of chicken soup.

Ingredients

1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
dash salt
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/4 cup chicken bouillon powder
2 Tbsp. dried onion flakes
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. thyme (optional)
1 tsp. basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine milk, four, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Melt the butter in a 1-quart saucepan.
  3. Stir in the flour-milk mixture
  4. Cook over low heat until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble. Keep stirring until thickened completely.

Notes

  • This recipe equals 1 cup or 1 can of cream soup.
  • The recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to fit your needs. If you double it, only use 1¾ cups of milk.
