This easy classic shortbread recipe is a simple recipe to make shortbread like grandma’s homemade shortbread! Shortbread is delicious alone as a cookie or with strawberries and cream or other berries as a cool snack or dessert!

Easy Classic Shortbread Recipe
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup plus 1 Tbsp, sugar
1 cup plus 1 Tbsp. flour (do not use self-rising flour)
Whip the butter. Add the sugar and flour and beat until it is light and fluffy. Pat the dough 1/2 inch thick into a 9×9 inch pan. Prick with a fork and sprinkle a little sugar on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes until it is light brown. Cool before serving. Makes 9 perces.

My batch of shortbread cookies were really good! But, they stuck to the pan really bad. I sprayed the pan with cooking spray. Any advice?
This recipe has so much butter in them they really should stick. It might be that your pan has been burnt at some point or is getting older. You can try cutting a circle of parchment paper or wax paper to put in the bottom of the pan then pat the dough on top of that. You also could try rubbing it with solid shortening or margarine although the papers would be better
