The Active Word

Several readers have asked about our church. We go to church at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale. We joke around that we are the Andover, KS branch because we watch it home with mom and my brother and his family.

We’ve decided to post a teaching from Pastor Bob here each Sunday for those of you would like to enjoy it also.

If you don’t have a church home and can’t attend then you can watch their services live here.

Eastern Standard Time:

Saturdays – 6pm

Sundays – 8am, 10:15am, 12:30pm

Wednesdays – 6:30pm

If you can’t watch it live, here is a message you might like.

From Pastor Bob

What are you afraid of?

What are you afraid of? Is it heights, snakes, spiders, or maybe fear of failure? What is failure? If you’re a Christian you’re a winner, nobody loses.

Enjoy!

Many years ago I was struggling with feeling like such a failure in so many things and falling so short of what I thought God expected of me and a wise older lady said, “Joan, God can make a straight line with a crooked pencil. Let HIM hold the pencil!!” So simple!

    • So true Joan. I love my 2 year old grandson so much it hurts (I love all of my grandkids this way). He walks around all day like most 2 year olds wrecking havoc every where he goes. He found a green marker just today and you can’t imagine what he did with it. He makes the biggest messes and doesn’t have a clue to what he should be doing. But guess what. I still love him to death and think he’s adorable and he loves me to death too. There is nothing he can do to make me stop loving him and the only thing that would break my heart is if he stopped loving me. The messes mean nothing but his love for me means everything.

God is like that with us. We think we are making messes with our lives and not doing things right but in God’s eyes He thinks we are adorable. He knows we don’t quite understand, haven’t got it down yet and are really trying so the messes we make don’t matter to Him only how much we love Him and have made Him our whole world.

sounds like my son when he was little .. we really needed to have the patience of job when he was little .. and he was like that until about 9.. but we still love him too ..
and u r right too .. and that older woman’s advice .. right on the money! so true! ..
thats my new saying now: let GOD handle it .. HE will and HE knows whats best for us ..
bc i too have had those similar thoughts in the past (and still do at times) .. but when i let HIM be in control it always works out for the best .. HE knows what we can handle and what our hearts are desiring ..
and when i let GOD handle my life, its so much less stressful ..
thanks for the advice jill … it was something i needed to read again .. (and i am sure there are others too) ..
