Tip For Saving Money on Organic Grains

Hi Tawra,

Here is my tip on buying organic food. I was able to find an organic farmer in my area that was willing to sell me organic spelt grain as long as I ordered 1500 pounds. I call a few friends and we each order 200-500 pounds and get a great price. Grain stores well, so even if it takes me a year or more to use it, it would still be fine.

Jill: There are few things that I think should be bought in bulk and grains are one of those things. The main reason is grain can be stored for probably a hundred years or more. Remember  how Joseph in the Bible stored the grain in the seven years of plenty so they would have enough grain for the seven years of famine? Smart man.

If you do store grain, especially for times of emergency, don’t forget that you need to have something to grind the grain and, even though the electric grinders are nice, if you have no power in an emergency you will need a non electric grinder.
