hey. just wanted to share this tip that i discovered by accident in college when i had run out of spray-n-wash (which didn’t work that great anyway). i always use ajax yellow dish liquid (the other colors sometimes stain the fabric) on any food or other greasy stain. use just enough to cover the stain on the side it landed on.

I too love to use hand dishwashing liquid for removing grease stains from the laundry. It seems to work really well and its cheap. I haven’t had trouble with the other colors of dishwashing liquid, but I generally get grease stains on colored clothing, and I could see how potentially some dishwashing liquids, such as the green and blue ones, might cause discoloration on white fabrics.
Does it work beter than liquid clothes washing detergent?
on greasy stains yes.
it is made for cutting grease on dishes so it basically does the same in material.
another one is paste toothpaste to get rid of grass stains. put some on the stain and rub it in using an old toothbrush works well. then wash as usual.
gel won’t work though.
I always use the original blue Dawn dishwashing detergent to get grease stains out of clothing. After all it was advertised as the ’stain picker-upper’! And I have never had a problem with the blue color. You don’t need a lot!
I use the orange antibacterial Ajax dish soap because I am always getting food splatters on my shirt while I am cooking. Guess I should use one of the aprons from the drawer while I am cooking!! The orange color has not been a problem for me. I even keep a half full bottle of Ajax in my bathroom where I change so that I can put it right on the spot before it goes through the washer and dryer. It does, however, still work even after the spot has gone through the dryer. Merry Christmas! Amy
