when I make donuts from refrigerator biscuits I
use the top of a 2 liter soda bottle for cutting
the donut holes, it is perfect size and the fried
donut holes are perfect size.
Here’s the recipe in Dining On A Dime.
Refrigerator Donuts
1 can refrigerator biscuits powdered sugar or
oil for frying cinnamon and sugar
Punch a hole in the center of each biscuit. Fry in hot oil until donut puffs and is golden brown. Turn and fry the other side. Drain on a paper towel. In a paper sack, put about 1 cup of powdered sugar or 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Drop donuts into bag and toss until coated. Serve warm. Makes 10 donuts.
*A 1-inch-diameter piece of clean metal pipe cut down to 3 inches is a good donut hole punch.
* The powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar may be saved to use again.

We always make a glaze with the powdered sugar and cinnamon by adding a LITTLE bit of water at a time to desired consistency.
I would like to use this receipe, but I find using all that oil to make them in wasteful. Do you save the oil, and if so, how?
Jan, you don’t throw away the oil but use it over and over again. When I am done frying I let the oil cool and then pour it into a glass jar. You can keep it in the fridge or in the pantry. The next time you need to fry something just pull it out and use it again.
I use the same oil to fry my taco shells, donuts or what ever in. It lasts forever it seems like. Oil can go rancid which will change the taste of the food but it doesn’t really spoil. It does take probably 3-6 months to turn rancid. I use mine often enough that I have never had it around long enough to go rancid.
Sometimes I get some “crumbs” of food in the bottom but you can run it through a strainer but most of the time they lay on the bottom and I just carefully pour the oil out leaving the crumbs at the bottom in the jar to toss.
The only times I don’t reuse it is when I make fried chicken I will toss it because it does get more gooky or if I would fry something with a strong flavor like fish or garlic. Most of the time I save it. When my kids were home I would maybe go through a 32 oz bottle every one or two months and that was using it quite often.
Always think things through too. For example how much do you pay for oil and a can of biscuits? Would it be less expensive even if you did have to throw it out then to buy a dozen glazed donuts at the store? These are always things to consider.

I too use the coke bottle lid - what ever size I have laying around. But I mix in coco powder with the sugar and the kids love that option too.
