I’m still here and so is Tawra. I will be posting things on the blog still and so will Tawra from time to time. We aren’t completely gone yet. Things will be getting a little more hectic with me running out to help Tawra but I am still trying to keep up with things.
Tawra just wanted to warn everyone in case you don’t hear from us for one or two days or even a week, you know we just have our hands full. We may not be quite as quick in dealing with things. Three nights out of the past five, I have had only 3-4 hours of sleep and Mike is in close running with me, so if I make a few spelling mistakes please be patient. I couldn’t remember my name this morning but I was able to crawl out of bed so I was glad for that. HA!HA! : )
Besides dealing with Tawra, we have not gotten much sleep because of tornado warnings the past couple of nights. It’s a good thing I don’t panic too easily. I was on the phone talking to Tawra while they were trying to round up the cat, dog and kids and squeeze into the tornado shelter. Then an hour later I was talking to Tawra’s brother on the other side of town, telling him they just announced his family needed to head for shelter.
About 11 o’clock my son called and said their pond was almost flooding and at the same time I ran to check my basement and had a sheet of water rolling down the wall and flooding the carpet. Things aren’t too bad. Let’s say I’ve seen worse. It is more of a pain then anything. That’s why I am on the blog right now till I decide how to deal with it.
Anyway I said all of that to say we are still here and functioning (I think). : ) I am so gratefull because we could have had it much worse.
Jill
PS Just so you know Tawra is holding her own. She is laying on the couch eating bonbons and watching Mike and I run around like chickens with our heads cut off. HA!HA! Not really but she is doing good as long as she stays down.

Praying for you guys. Particularly Tawra and the baby.
Tawra, try to relax, and catch up on reading something fun. Just wanted to tell you I received the “Dining on a Dime” cookbook, last week, and it has already paid for itself. I made a gallon of the shower spray, and filled several empty spray bottles. I like the results, and how economical it is. Secondly, I used your tip to remove blood stains, and saved a vintage embroidered pillowcase that had a blood stain on it. It was dried on, but there is no trace of the stain now.
I will be trying some recipes soon, and will be giving the book to family members for Christmas. Thanks
Try USD 259 Eschool. I believe it covers your area too. We have used it for several years w/ good results. It is a nice cross between home and regular school. The district provides books, computers if you need one, curriculum, and teachers that are available all day for questions. The kids have a couple days a month they go in for review and testing. They also have field trips, science fairs, and extra activities as well.
jill, mike and tawra… just try to take it easy… we all know its sooo stressful at this time for the whole family…
you are all in our prayers and thoughts… and again, i wish i lived closer to you, i would definitely help you out as much as i could… but all i can offer is prayers (which is a good thing too!)…
hopefully, there wasnt too much damage jill from all the water that was coming in ur house… i know when we were having flooding from the multitude of storms here last year, and i found water in the living room, we thought we had a hole in the roof… (all it turned out to be is that the cats dumped their water bowl on the floor) but it was scary too…
try to take it easy these days…
hopefully, the baby will wait a bit longer too…
((( hugs ))) to all of you… and again, you are all in our prayers…
thanks for all you do for us, we greatly appreciate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to you all & especially the new little one. When I was expecting my last, I was also ‘grounded’ for most of the pregnancy. My daughters were heavily into the ‘Babysitters Club’ series at the time, so they ‘helped’ by keeping me well supplied with their reading material, letting me know which were the ‘best’ to start with. A really nice by-product and a great way to spend extra time with my girls. Homeschooling children with a new baby at home was WONDERFUL! We were all able to operate on the baby’s schedule. For example,if he had a difficult night and didn’t sleep much, nobody had to get up early for school the next day! The older children were able to become a bigger part of my son’s life instead of just seeing the baby as an interruption in their after-school schedule as some of my friends’ children did. We took our infant EVERYWHERE! (Even to the school library, where we were spent an hour or two each week while two of my older children were permitted to rehearse and sing with the school’s chorus!–The librarians were enchanted with him and very helpful) Materials I liked for homeschooling were SAXON for math and A BEKA for most other things. Kim Marshal also has a nice series we discovered for Math, English & Vocabulary. If you are going to a curriculum fair, I would advise picking up brochures and printed materials ONLY on the first visit until you’ve collected something from everywhere you MIGHT be interested in. Then sit down together somewhere relatively quiet and look through them. If possible, take them home, decide, then SEND for the materials you’ve chosen. Also, check out some HomeSchool websites and Amazon.com for used materials. Once you get started, it becomes easier and easier to find education materials everywhere, not just curriculum companies! School Districts in my state are ‘required to loan texts including teachers’ guides’ if you request them, but they usually say they don’t have extra teachers’ editions, so not terribly helpful. Again, best wishes and prayers for you all!
apstarple, my daughter and i used to read those books too… “the babysitter’s club”… very clean and wholesome series…
…
tawra, when ellie gets older and she is not aware of these books, you might want to introduce them to her… and to be quite honest, i wasnt the only mother who also read those books… hehehehee :D… it seemed all of my daughter’s friend’s mother’s read those books too and i even met several ladies at the library that read them too… very enjoyable to read!…
i hope all is well with everyone these days…
also, about the diabetic testing meters and etc, you might want to check out your local health clinic… maybe they can help you too…

Rose, I’m sorry I couldn’t stop laughing when you said you thought your house had flooded and it was just the cats tipping over their bowl.
Once I was talking to Tawra on the phone and she all of a sudden got upset saying she thought the dog was bleeding internally and hung up to go check him out. I’m sitting waiting and wondering if the dog was dying or not and finally she called back laughing.
She had hot glued a ribbon to my gingerbread men and
hung them on the Christmas tree. The dog had eaten them off of the tree without her knowing and when he pranced by a red ribbon was hanging out his buns looking like blood against his white fur. No wonder I feel like I age 10 years every day. : ) : )

I just had to add to my last post that I am praying that you are able to make it to the full term mark of at least 38 weeks! I know it is a long wait, but if you are holding your own by being on bed rest, the longer the baby is in there the better! It seemed like forever for me, but we literally had to take it one day, one blood pressure check at a time. And, thus we made it to term! I would have gladly waited until we hit 40 weeks, but my Dr. said, “Enough - you are doing well and we don’t want to push our luck and end up in a potential emergency situation.” So, that is what I am praying for you - that the diabetes and the potential for P.E. stay under control.
Hi all, sorry Tawra but I seem to have lost your e-mail address and can not contact you in another way than comment on a blog… I have a subscription on the ‘Living on a dime newsletter’, but have to admit that I do not really read it al the time.
In the beginning I read your blog but it was a long time ago since the last time. Today I thought it was time to take a look again and… (shame on me) found out that Tawra is pregnant again and even almost due…
We wish you all the best and hopefully you will have a beautiful healthy baby in your arms soon!
Love also to Jill, Mike and the kids!
