Trying to keep up.

Hello everyone.

I’m sorry for the far and few between posts this summer. It’s hard getting much done with the kids home from school. I can’t believe that school starts in 7 weeks! Wow, it’s going by fast!

Mike got an email interview for the job he applied for in Colorado. They asked for more info. and more samples of his work. This is one of those things we are just waiting to see what happens. We have prayed that if we are supposed to do it then everything will just fall into place. The thought of moving again is overwhelming but to “start fresh” again would be fun too. Not to mention to be back “home” again. Of course that would mean leaving mom and my brother here for now and we do help each other a lot so that would be hard.

We found out that the funding we were hoping for the cowtown video fell through and then the temp job with his former employer fell through, again. It’s going to be interesting to see how this all works out. We have about 3 weeks of living expenses left right now using some of the insurance money from the roof. Summer is always the slowest time of year for books sales but we are doing better than the summers before. It’s just not enough to support us and the business.

Right now I’m helping a friend re-decorate her bathroom and bedroom. It’s an older house and needs lots of work but we are getting it done. We were able to buy everything for the bathroom for about $10 and everything for her bedroom including all new bedding and curtains and paint for about $40. We are using paint from the recycle center and have been going to the thrift store a couple times a weeks looking for items to match each other. The bedding and curtains were priced at $80 but we waited a week and they didn’t sale so they marked them down to $40! Yeah!! What a deal. We got curtains for 2 windows, comforter, bedskirt, shams and 8 panels of curtains to use to make a canopy type thing on the wall behind her bed.

That’s about all for now. I better run and get some “work” done! :-)

$10 Down Comforter.

I have been wanting a down comforter for a while. They just seem like they would be so cozy. Well my SIL went to Walmart today and they had their down comforters on clearance for $10 down from $65!
Yeah! What a deal! I can’t wait to try it!

Survey Please.

We are working on some e-books right now. I would like some input please.
I was going to put our Menus On A Dime booklet in e-book form also. Here is my question, would you like to see the recipes in it also?

Right now we just have the menu ideas and people can look up the recipes in the book. Before I go to all the work adding the recipes I was wondering if it would be something that would be helpful. Also do you think we should keep a printed version to sell?

Right now we are working on the Organizing and Cleaning book and on Mom’s story about living on $500 a month.

Is there anything else you like to see next? We are going to have one written for every area of frugal living but if there was something that people wanted to see most we would do that first. Please feel free to email me with your input.

Thanks!!

More work.

Mike got a call from his old employer asking if he would still consider working for them for 20 hours a week for a few weeks. They said last week that they changed their mind but changed it again this week.

Wow, God is good! Here Mike not only got the video work last week and now he gets the offer they said they didn’t need him after all again this week so he was able to do both!

Frugal Jackpot!

I went to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility to see if they had anything to remove paint that was dripped on the driveway last fall when I was painting the house.

At first I didn’t find anything. Then I asked if they had some. While we were looking they brought a cart out with a bunch of new stuff on it. Here’s what I got:

1 gallon of hand soap
1 gallon of dish soap
3 gallons of mineral spirits (for the driveway)
3 gallons of laundry booster
1 gallon of car window washer w/de-icer
2 bottles of stop leak for bike tires (which I just bought at Walmart and will be returning! LOL)
1 bottle of Lysol cleaner
1 gallon of deck stain

I figured I got at least $80 maybe more of things we can use around the house for free! Yeah!! That was worth the trip!

Frugal Birthday.

David turned 3 yesterday! Wow, this has been the fasted and yet at the same time the longest 3 years of my life! LOL

I have to say that 3 is the cutest time for birthday parties. They finally understand what’s going so everything is so cool to them!
We just had a family party with us, my mom and brother’s family. We had cake and homemade ice cream which was yummy.

Mike and I got him a small bike for $3 at the thrift store and a ball and bat. We spent $8 total for his gifts and then about $10 for the party stuff. $6 of which was for the ice cream! Yikes! It did make a huge batch, I think 4 qts. but still that was expensive. It sure was yummy though!

Mike had someone who needed him to tape for them so he didn’t get the sale off the website. So…… that means if you didn’t get to take advantage of the Free Pretty for Pennies with a Not Just Beans purchase then you still can today!! It’s down at the bottom of the ordering page. Hurry! It goes off tomorrow.

God WILL take care of you.

We have 3 weeks of income left. Mike was supposed to work part time for an old employer for 10 hours a week this month but it feel through on Monday. That was going to extend our income another week or two.

Well today he gets a call from the person who dubbed his tapes for his Cowtown Video. They liked his work so much that they want him to video a seminar tomorrow and Friday from 7-5 and then 7-3. He will get $250 for each day! That will give us 1 week of income in 2 days!

Then we got a call and we will get 5K for the roof. We can do it ourselves we just have to give them a bill for our labor. Now we can get a new roof, which we needed and will up the re-sell value of our house and we can have some money to put on debt or live on. Yeah!

I have been reading a wonderful book by Neil Anderson called Bondage Breakers. It speaks to God working in our lives like this and how Satan just tries to discourage us.

One of the biggest things that I see in Christians is fear. It drives me nuts!

Christ has won the victory for us, why are you afraid?

Why are you afraid of dying? We are going to heaven.

Why are you afraid of financial problems? God says he will take care of us.

Why are you afraid of what people think? God’s opinion is the only one that matters!

We have no reason to be afraid! God WILL take care of us!

More Money.

Yeah!
They came out and looked at our roof and the hail damaged it and our gutters! This will be great! We had major hail about a month ago and that’s what did it. I wasn’t going to have them come out to look at it but I’m really glad I did. If we can do the roof ourselves that will give us a couple of thousand dollars to put toward debt or live on. If we can’t do it ourselves we will at least have a new roof when we go to sell the house.

Yeah!
