Filing Taxes Frugally

I just wanted to let you know about a little known
secret for getting your taxes done. You can do
them online and in many states, you can have them
done and e-filed for free!

You can go to the IRS
website or find many places online by searching
"free tax preparation online." My husband and I
used TurboTax online and they filed our federal
and state for free!

You have to have an adjusted
gross income below a certain amount (which varies
depending on the company), but the process doesn't
take very long and we actually got back more than
we would have by having an accountant do our taxes
because TurboTax caught a deduction that our
accountant didn't which made us get back $600 more
than filing through our accountant! Some of the
websites charge minimal fees if you don't meet the
requirements to file free, but I will say that it
is well worth it!
