Shorten rising time.
We use method 2 all the time and it works great! It's the only way I use to rise my bread.

Method one....When dough is thoroughly mixed, oil bowl and cover dough with plastic. Fill sink or larger bowl with about 2 inches of hot water or enough water to come about half or three-fourths the way up the outside of the bowl. Place bowl of dough in bowl of water and allow to rise until double in size.
Method two....Just before mixing dough, turn oven on lowest possible temperature. When dough is thoroughly mixed, place in oiled bowl. Cover dough with plastic; Place in oven, with pan of hot water on rack under dough. Turn oven off, shut oven door and allow dough to rise until double in size.

A friend once told me that her mother used to quick-rise her homemade rolls by placing the pan on the panel inside her car's windshield. Living in Texas, this type of solar-oven doesn't take long to take effect!
To be even cheaper you can just put the dough back in the mixing bowl without oil and cover with a towel (I put the bowl inside my son's outgrown t-shirts).
