HE Washer Help!!

While I was gone yesterday my wonderful hubby decided to do 5 loads of wash for me and clean up the house.

I have been so sick that the house has just gone downhill this week. Well, after using our washer he has decided it's time for a new one! LOL Ours leaves horrible lint and doesn't clean that well but now it's making this HORRID screeching noise when it spins.

He spent the day looking for washers for me but we can't decide which one to get. We want a high efficiency one because we have the septic tank but we want one that will clean well and isn't noisy.

Help!! Which HE washer do you have and do you like it?

When I look at consumer reports the ones the recommend all have bad reviews by actual customers. Help!!!

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3t and it is the best Washer/Dryer I have ever owned. I have friends that own the Whirlpool Duet and the Maytag. They are all very happy with them. Good Luck.

I own a Whirlpool Duet washer. It is great. It washes a huge load of laundry at once. I do not own the Duet dryer. My dryer was perfect when I needed a washer. So I kept it. I do hang more than 90% of our laundry to dry on an outside clothes line...I do not think an older dryer could handle a whole load of laundry from this large washer...
Since buying this washer in July 2006 I have seen a considerable savings in my water bill. We do not have a septic system but our water bills are very high. I do track this bill (I track all of our bills) I saved an average of more than $20.00 a month on water.
I was laundry for a family of 4 and I also do one load a day 5 days a week of day care things...so that is an average of 10 loads a week. Roxie

We have a Frigidaire Gallery HE washer. We've had it for 3+ years, and we love it! It is very quiet, and cleans very well. The precision temp setting is really nice too.

Get a front loader, I got the Kenmore, not the HE3, but the less expensive model, saves tons of water and soap, very easy and gets stuff so clean that I am ammazed. Only spent like $599 on sale at Sears, more that a top loader but you will quickly make up for that with the water, detergent and electric savings. and it is better for the enviornment too.

I have a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. I can actually say it's the best purchase I've ever made. They both have large capacities (I can wash and dry my queen size comforter which saves money on the dry cleaners), plus the added savings with less water used. I have to say the best thing is that the dryer finishes drying the same time the washer gets done washing so there's no down time between loads!!

We have the whirlpool duet washer and love it. Our clothes get really clean and it uses much less water. We are also on a septic and well. We also don't have the matching dryer. The appliance guy we bought it from said get the cheapest largest capacity dryer you can. We did not care if they matched because they are in our basement. No one sees them but the person doing the laundry.

Hi Tawra, I know you asked us to tell you what type of washer we have. But I thought you'd appreciate me telling you that there is a website, that has people that want to give away their items, instead of bringing them to the landfill.
This is all done for FREE! No money is exchanged for any item. You are asked to post items you want to give away first. Before asking for things you want or need.Posting is also free. The reason I am telling you this is, because you don't have to spend ANY money to get another washer, when someone may be giving a very usable washer away for nothing. The website is called, "freecycle",and it's now becoming Nationwide, going by the County you live in.
I thought you might want to consider this also, before you spend a large amount of money. You can ask for almost anything, within reason, and someone may have what you are looking for. I have gotten a riding lawn mower, interior house paint, a snow blower, even a car, when mine died. I also post items I am willing to see go to other grateful people. Instead of filling up Our local landfill. Happy Thanksgiving! laura Upstate New York

A green clean website has been listing problems with mold in them and apparently there was/is a class action suit. Debra Dadd's blog has discussions about it.

That said, we're buying a home next year and they are leaving the w/d, which are frontloading...I cannot wait.

Check out the Frigidaire Affinity. They are quite resonable in price for HE laundry, both pcs. have stainless tubs (no more snags on your clothes) and will hold a queen size comforter. They have come out with a new look the 8000 series, so I bet you can get an even better deal on a 7000 series. I have 4 dtrs, each own a front loader, as do I. And this set works just as well as some of the more expensive sets we have purchased. (I happen to sell appliances) hehe No matter what set you end up with, you will love the savings all the way around! Lori
