Ear Piercing Shock
Elly has wanted to get here ears pierced for a while but was to chicken to do it. Her cousin decided to go Monday and she wanted to go to so I said yes. She said she was about "70% sure" that she wanted to do it.
Well, we get there and her cousin had it done and she decided to do it too! She looks great but they almost had to pick this mom up off the floor when they told me it was THIRTY EIGHT DOLLARS!!! Augh!!
I know it was 20 years ago but when I had it done it was $6! Good grief! That about sent this tightwad to the ER with a heart attack! I was expecting $20 but not $38!!
Of course we did have to laugh when BJ was so fascinated by going to the mall. This is the first time my 10 year old has been to the mall! (That tells you how often I go! LOL) I kept thinking the entire time that we needed a TLC crew there for one of their reality shows! He just wanted to ride on the see through elevator the entire time. hehehe
We could call it "Tightwads in the Real World" LOL I keep thinking we need to have them come tape our lives. I think people would just laugh at some of the silly things we do to save money sometimes! :-)

I am glad you let her get it done, though! It is definitely a girl thing. She does look very happy in the picture. I think it was probably close to $30 when my daughter had hers done eight years ago.

Mine cost 5 dollars in 1988.:) Some things do change, but a little girl wanting pierced ears never will:)
Your kids are gorgeous by the way!
I just had to laugh about your comment about BJ and the mall. I just recently took my 9 year old daughter to the mall(Joplin, Mo...not nearly as big as your Wichita malls!). I treated my daughters by letting us all eat lunch at the food court. My daughter was SO excited! She had been in the mall a few times, but never had the opportunity to eat at the food court. She proclaimed it the "best place to eat in the whole world"! It's kinda nice to have a child who isn't so "jaded" in this land of consumerism that we live in that she can get that much enjoyment out of eating at the food court:)
It must be the 'mall' price. Here the local Walmart person will do the ear piercing for the price of the stud ear rings. (not that I would let a Wal-mart employee do that to my ears) I am 55, when I was 16 I got my ears pierced in the DOCTOR'S office to get my ears pierced. I fainted and fell off the table when the doctor did the 2nd ear. (I am a big coward.)
Your daughter is beautiful. Love the ear rings. I am sure she will enjoy the pierced ears and the experience of getting the ears pierced for many many years. Thanks for sharing. Roxie
Her ears are beautiful! I'm shocked at the cost too! I'm glad mine were done years and years and years ago!
I got my daughter's ears pierced at Wal-Mart back in July. The cost was $10 and they did a great job. We've had no problems with them at all. (she's 7)

your daughter is sooo pretty... and i know she must love her new earrings...
i cant believe the price tho!... when i had my daughter's ear's pierced, it was like $5 (for the cost of the earrings, the piercing was free)...
love your site too... :D :D
Your daughter looks so cute with her newly pierced ears!! Wow, good for you ....not taking the kids to the mall a lot. My daughter is 12 and is all of a sudden wanting to go the mall constantly!!!!!!
Take care of yourself.

Your little girl is so cute! That picture of her with her new earrings is priceless. She reminds me of the little girl who played in the movie "Prancer"
She looks too cute!! If it makes you feel any better...we have 5 girls, ages almost 14, 12, 6, 4, & 2. (We tried for a boy but he never happened.) All but the 2 year old have pierced ears. We did the mall thing too...made a big deal of the event and had a blast!! Precious Memories!!
