Non-stick pans
Is there such a thing as a truly non-stick pan?
I have the hardest time with pans. I don't know what the deal but they never work for me. I HATE it when scrambled eggs stick all over the pan and you have scrub to get them out.
Well, after using my horribly marred set I got fed up and tried a set that was on QVC. They came today so I thought, "great, I will get to make some eggs that won't stick." Would you believe they stuck, AND I USED BUTTER! Augh!!!!!
I am so mad! I love the sizes of the pans. They are just what I need but now I don't know if should return them or not.
Anyone have a truly non-stick pan? I should have tried a Pampered Chef one with my free $ but I put in my order yesterday so I think it's too late.
Any suggestions?

Hi, Tawra! I have always had the same problem as you with my eggs sticking. I finally resigned to the fact that no matter what I buy, SOMETHING is going to stick to it. I got sick of my Teflon peeling after a few years of use so I made the decision about a year ago to go "pioneer". I threw out all my Teflon stuff (except my little Pampered Chef sautee skillet, which my eggs stick to, as well) and bought a piece at a time of Lodge cast iron. I now have 3 different sizes of skillets and also a chicken fryer. I read a lot about the health benefits of cooking with cast iron and about how your food stays warmer longer once it is cooked because of the way cast iron distributes and then retains heat. Anyway, I finally experimented cooking different things and I think I have found out the trick to making eggs that don't stick...I cut my stove burner on about number 7 (medium-high) and then I just wait...I wait a few minutes for the skillet to get hot, then I melt some bacon grease (unhealthy, I know but it sure is good!) and dump my eggs in after the grease is melted and hot. I have had such good luck with that! I think the trick is to get the pan hot enough. And with cast iron, you don't have to worry about messing up the pan by letting it heat up (like Teflon tends to ruin or warp or whatever). But even using my Pampered Chef sautee pan, I have found that if I let it get hot before I pour the eggs in, they don't stick. Maybe that'll work for you, as well. Maybe cast iron isn't practical for you because it is so incredibly heavy but I love the fact that I don't have to flinch every time my husband uses a metal spatula! lol

Hi Tawra
My eggs only stick a little :) try cooking spray instead of butter. It really dose swork
I have the little Pampered chef pan also and things stick to it. They must do something to make them NOT stick during the demonstrations! :)
I have the little pampered chef but stuff sticks to that too! I think they must be using new pans every time they do a demo! :)
We just got a pot and pan set from Rachael Ray.com. I'll let you know how they do with eggs. Macaroni and cheese cleaned out of them pretty well.
Hi,
I have sold Pampered Chef for 11* years. I promise that I don't do anything magic to make things not stick to the skillet and I don't use a new skillet each time. When I scramble eggs, the only place I have to scrub is on the heads of the screws that attach the handle to the pan. I think I use nonstick spray most of the time. I know that I do use a Pampered Chef Mix N Scraper when I scramble eggs. I also cook at 6 or 7 on my electric stove when using the Pampered Chef non-stick pan. Tawra, try those hints with your new pans and see how your eggs cook.

I absolutely LOVE my little Pampered Chef sautee skillet. I have never, ever had eggs stick to it, and it cleans up like a dream. I think the trick is getting the pan hot enough. I bought this about 10+ years ago, and it still looks brand new. There truly is something to say about quality items. This little pan was definitely worth the $$!!
I absolutely love my cast iron pan. My parents gave me the one they used when I was growing up. Now I use it all the time. This pan is about 30 years old--truly a frugal purchase.
i personally always put about tablespoon of oil in my pan when i make eggs and they never stick but if i use butter they always stick so thats why i use oil now! ;)
I recently read something about that. You have to put some oil and salt in the prior to use and warm the pan till the oil burns off but not burn the pan and then after it cools just rinse and set up, and supposedly it works like with iron pans. Hope it works! I haven't tried it yet. I already ruined my pans before I found this tip so my new set I will definetly try this on. K in WV
I have a set of Calphalon non-stick Pans and my husband sprayed non-stick spray in it not knowing and now everything sticks to it. they warn you not to you non-stick spray in non-stick skillets. I think the best thing to do is heat up the pan before putting the eggs in (using a little butter or oil). I always have good luck with that, even in stainless steel pans. Hope this helps!
I used to watch the cooking shows on PBS...the one thing I saw over and over and took to heart was "hot pan, cold food, food won't stick" In other words heat the pan up first, then add the food and it won't stick. I cook eggs for the day care children here several times a week and I use an electric skillet...I do not have a sticking problem at all. I wipe the pan out with a paper towel between eggs..(kids don't all show up at once so I must cook the eggs and toast for each child with they come in) Hope that helps you. Roxie
I have an amazing set of non-stick cookware that my mom found for really cheap (I don't remember where, though). I can have scrambled egg gunk on them left for three days, and I can wipe it out.
The brand is Bialetti, and they're made in Italy. I have loved my set!
HI Tawra,
Though I am a pure vegetarian and don't eat egg, my younger son's doctor instructed me to give him eggs and from then on I am doing the scambled eggs. I use either the non stick or the cast iron but they don't stick. I as a rule use only oil for cooking and never use butter except on bread. using oil helps the eggs from not sticking to the pans.
I've had Pampered Chef cooking pans for 6+ years and I have never had anything stick to them, including eggs. I cook with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil and I always heat it before putting in the egss.
