Storing Blankets.
I have a ton of blankets. We probably have 30 of them all over the place. The thing is we really need to keep them in case the heat goes out in winter. We lost electricity in an ice storm for a week once. Fortunately we were able to stay at my brothers house but you never know when the entire city will be out and I don't want to have 5 of us stuck in -20 weather in Kansas in the middle of winter.
We love the idea of the Space Bags where you can suck the air out of a bag with your stuff in it and then it flattens. When I got some they didn't work worth anything so I took them back.
Well mom and I decided to make our own so we could put them up in the attic.
We got some
large construction grade garbage bags and put the blankets in.
Then we wrapped the opening around the vacuum cleaner and sucked the air out.

Then we duct taped the end shut. It didn't do to bad. Now all my blankets are in the attic, free from bugs and dust just waiting for winter. :-)

What a smart idea!
And a lot cheaper than those bags.
It doesn't look as fancy, but who is going to care when the bags are stored in the attic??

What a great, cheap idea. I am one of your English members & a couple of years ago I bought some of the expensive space saver bags to put my blankets etc in. They worked for me & gave me a lot more room in my linen cupboard but they didn't come cheap. I was sorry to read that some people think you shouldn't look forward to the start of school. If they were honest all mothers would admit that they do & it DOESN'T meanyou don't love your kids.

Hi Tawra,
Although I enjoyed the summer with the kids at home, I also RELISHED the daily hours when they were in school.
It gave me time to do the housework, cooking, laundry and have some time for myself and recharge my batteries.
After school, I was always happy to see them back and enjoyed their company.
I did NOT feel guilty about having time for myself and didn't think I was a "bad mother".
Tawra, forget about those nasty emails, 15 to 1 is a totally cool
conversion of Good Vs Bad emails.
Your newsletter is one of the few that I truly look forward to read.

you could also lay some of the blankets between the box spring and top mattresses on your bed...I have been using that idea to store all my extra blankets for years. I can put up to 4 blankets under each mattress, and because they lay flat, you don't even notice they are there!
