Saving the "white car".
I'm trying to figure out how to put pictures on here. So far it seems really complicated but I'm going to forge on and try and figure it out.
Mike drives the "white car". It's a 91 Buick Skylark that has seen better days. We paid $2500 for it in 1998 so we got our money out it.
Well we just don't have the cash right now to buy a new one so we fired up the "white car" again. It's been parked for 1 1/2 years so we had all the fluids changed and the brakes fixed. It cost around $350 but that's much cheaper than a new car.

Well, Mike hated it because it had started to rust out. We decided to do a paint job ourselves with a can of white rustoleum we found in the paint box in the garage.
Well, it didn't turn out to bad, if you look at it from 30 feet away without your glasses on! LOL
What's funny is my grandfather paints cars professionally. Poor guy almost had a heart attack when I told him what we did!

i think some new hubcaps/rims would really make your car look much better!just an idea.....thanks for sharing!
LOL! We do have hubcaps. We just haven't got them put back on yet from the break job.
I will have to remind hubby to do it.
It needs a good washing too!

Tawra, I think it looks very good! I'll be trying that on my elderly car soon. Thanks for the inspiration!

We have a white 1997 chevy lumina that all the paint is peeling off the roof. It is now down to metal. Once all the paint is gone my dh is going to use spray paint to cover it. It is too funny that others do the same thing.
Tawra,
this brought back memories for me. In the mid 80's, my friends and I were all driving Datsun B210's and old Corollas-at least 9 years old, rusted out, and badly in need of a paint job. My Dad showed us how to "bondo" the rusted out holes and a high school friend "painted" at least three cars with spray paint. Mine was a beautiful deep burgundy color. Best of all, we "waxed" our new cars with a can of Liquid Gold furniture polish confiscated from another parents cleaning supplies. They looked great! Total cost of body work and paint for three vehicles -Less than $50. (He He He) I have carried this frugality into adulthood. God Bless you and your family and thank you for the wonderful information you provide.
That's awesome! We have a 'white car' too; same year but different model. Fortunately my husband drives a short distance to work so it doesn't get much use. Great job on the car, keep rollin'!
OM - and I thought I was the queen of the "hoopdies".... I drive a 1990 Red Ford Escort and love it!
My girls 23 and 24 hate it - and refuse to drive it! LOL - There is a method to my madness. The gas mileage is great, has 79,980 original miles and is very faded not rusted yet .... My kids always say that instead of stray cats, I bring home stray cars....
Love your site, blog, all of it....

OH, PS - Can't believe people sent YOU hate mail.. Shame on them
