The new house.

I got the pictures fixed below. Sorry! Tawra

We finally have Internet. It's very slow but all we can get. (Wild Blue, don't use them if you can avoid it)

I am trying to get caught up on everything but it is going slowly.

We put up some pictures of the new house on the website. Check them out here.

The sellers said they won't pay for their half of the septic problems so now we are going to go to mediation. If that doesn't work we will have to go to court in which case we will sue for the entire amount and not just half. To say we are frustrated is an understatement!

On a funny frugal note. I have chewed my fingernails down to nothing. I used to be a chronic nail biter growing up but now I just do it for a few months, stop for a few years and then start again.

They hurt so bad I couldn't go to sleep last night. I was trying to think of something to take the pain away. I had some baby origel and thought "well if it works for teeth maybe it will work for fingers". Sure enough it worked like a charm and I slept like a "baby"! LOL

I will post more later! Tawra

Hi Tawra!
My DH and I bought a house eight years ago and the sellers did not disclose $30,000 worth of issues. Because of that, my advice to you is to push the sellers into paying for the septic system however you have to. In our state, sellers actually have to disclose anything that is wrong with the house. Good luck!

Hello Tawra,

No wonder you are chewing your nails again. I would with a lot less anxiety.

I feel so bad for all of you and I'm sending you some positive vibes.

Hoping the sellers will be more cooperative.

Marie

As a former country dweller of many years, let me suggest that you use water sparingly until you learn just how good your well actually is.

There is a time to be nice, and a time to pull out the 'big dog' as my husband says. It seems to me that the previous owners of this home KNEW there were problems with the septic and garage flooding. I do not think it is legal to sell a home without disclosing the problems. You might still have brought the house, but at a price that would have let you fix these things without huge debt. The debt for these repairs is not fair to fall to you. I wonder if their (the previous homeowner's) homeowner insurance might not have covered some of this expense??? Sure hope all goes well. Roxie

Sorry, but I had to smile at your comments on the slow internet connection. Not sure your situation but figured you have not been used to dial up. Those who have always had good high speed or wireless and not dealt with regular old dial up get frustrated. However, people like me who waited ages for any type internet connection to come to their area without being a long distance connection have rejoiced with the regular dial up. I now have access to faster ways of using the internet and understand your dilema. Had I had these first then had to go to dial up I would probably have thrown my computer out the window!!!!!! Maybe in time you can get a better connection-remember you are sacaficing this for a wonderful home.

The sellers had to know that the septic system was not working righ.
I think they are liable. If you used a realtor, he/she should be able to help.
Even if you don't get help with the new septic system, you still got a great deal.
Enjoy!

Hi Tawra,

I was looking at the pictures of your beautiful "estate" and looking at the price.

Even if you have to pay all the money for the septic tank (and I hope you won't),it is worth a "million bucks" from the pictures.

I think you'll be very happy there, once you fix all the negative.

Warmly,
Marie
