Kids birthday party.
From: Hope W.
Tawra, I read your article on cheap birthday
parties. Here's one we just had one for my 8 year
old - under $20 and WITH a full meal. It was an
ancient Greek olympics theme. (Okay, they are
homeschooled. Homeschooled kids like crazy
stuff). Grin!
Each year my boys get to invite one friend AND the
friend's family over for a birthday dinner and
games. So, this was for 10 people all together.
1) My boys made up "Olympic" games. Cost - zero.
2) Stuffed birds for prizes - $.50 each - cost- $3.00
3) Togas for guests - white sheets held together
by big broaches - cost zero.
4) Laurel wreaths for guests - made with fake ivy
- cost zero - I already had the fake ivy.
5) Homemade Greek meatballs - cost $4.00.
6) Falafels - (ground garbanzo beans with spices
and bread crumbs - fried in oil) - cost - under $1.
7) Pitas (to stuff meatballs and falafels into) -
cost $3.00
8) Homemade Greek salad - cost $1.00
9) Other assorted Greek side dishes - cost $3.00
10) Cake and icing - cost $1.00.
Total = $16.00 We ate the leftovers for the next
two days. Memories ... priceless!
