Going out of town.

We are going to Colorado from the 31st-8th.

I'm sorry this has been so sporadic this summer but I just don't get much time on the computer with the kids home. They start school on the 15th and this mom is counting the hours!

I just thought I would let everyone know so you didn't think I fell off the face of the earth! :-)

Frozen Fruit.

Frozen cantaloupe and water melon are good too. I use a melon ball spoon and freeze them on a cookie sheet..then offer them to the kids. They are eaten so fast....

Thanks Roxie!

Roof Update

We got the roof done last week. I have just been zapped and so I haven't felt like doing much of anything.

It went pretty well. We didn't have any major problems, thankfully! We even had $700 left over that we can live on. With that money we have 3 weeks of living expenses left. I don't know how God did it but our money was supposed to run out in April and it's still going! :-)

The TV station Mike used to work at wants him to work part time for 20 hours a week for 3 months. He will start doing that and then we should be able to live off of that and then some from the book sales. Summer is our slow season so hopefully things will pick up when school starts.

I haven't been getting too much done. David was sick last week and I'm fighting discouragment and what I think is maybe burn-out. I'm not sure, all I know is I don't feel like doing much. Of course it was 108 here yesterday so that doesn't help much.

We are working on getting some new ebooks out and hopefully finish the organizing book (after 2 years! AUGH!) soon.

I will hopefully start up on the blogging again soon.

New Roof.

Mike started working on the new roof today. It will be interesting to see if this is one of the projects that will be a great money saver or we regret doing. :-)

I will let you know how it turns out.

Re-decorating

I've been helping my friend re-decorate her bathroom and bedroom for the last 2 weeks. WE were able to do it all for about $50 including in bedding and curtains!

On of the things we did was watch the thrift store and go several times a week to find things. We found a shower curtain and have cut it up to make valances to match her new comforter.

She found some tiles that she really liked but they didn't have a frame. They were .75 so we went ahead and bought them anyway. A few days later we found two frames that matched and the tiles fit in there perfectly! New pictures for $1.50 each.

She needed something to set on the back of her toilet for decoration and we found a cute small wooden crate. We set that on there and stuffed in it an apron she had that matched the colors of her bathroom. We draped some of the apron over the edges so it looks like a lined basket. We then opened up all her bars of soap and set them in there. The bathroom smells great and it's a nice little decoration for .99.

Those are just a few of things we done to help her get her house from the 70's into the 21st century.

"new candle"

I have a candle that I purchased last year and just love it. Well, it's down to the last little bit of wax. I hated to just throw it away and I couldn't find my potpourri pot that I usually put small bits of wax in and let them melt away until the scent is gone.

I had a bunch of tea lights and the wicks are pretty long on them. I took on of those out of it's metal container and put it in a small candle holder. Then I melted the last of the wax from my other candle and poured it on top. It turned out a great and I have a "new" votive candle that I can burn for several more hours! Yeah! I hate to see this candle go as I can't find a another one but it's good to know that I can use to the last drop! :-) BTW, I got the original candle at Aldi's and it smells just like a Yankee candle only 1/4 of the price!
