Thanks for all the bed wetting help!

I'm finally out of bed! Yeah! Wow, I got hit hard this time. I was in bed for 5 days straight with strep and then a bad cold. Last two days I have been up, still kind of week but at least I'm not flat in bed anymore.

I finally got caught up on some of the laundry.

I will get pull-ups for our 3 year old. I'm not oppssed to using them it's just that when we used them before he treated them like a diaper. He wouldn't go poop in the toilet and would hold it for his diaper or pull-up so that's why we went cold turkey 4 weeks ago.

Right now I'm waiting to make sure that it's ingrained in him and then I will try them again.

My oldest I'm not sure what to do. I don't think he would go for the Good Nights but he might. I am going to try some of the other suggestions and see if that helps.

Thanks so much for all the help!!
Tawra

Just thought of this, Tawra! I don't know why I didn't when I first saw your post about the bedwetting. A friend of mine has a daughter that has a terrible time and cannot keep the bed dry at night. They took her to a specialist and she was put on some medication to help her. It really made a big difference. Have you thought about possibly seeing a doctor about this? Hope this is a help to you. I can't tell you how much I enjoy your web site! Also, I am really glad you are feeling better and back on your feet again. God bless!

Tawra- We had issues to with our six year old, he's almost seven now. The alarm works, we set it for about 3 1/2 hours after he's been asleep. He needs time to get through the REM stage so he's awake again enough to be able to get up. We cut off liquids about two hours before bed, doctor said he needs two hours for it to pass through. We always make him go to the bathroom right before getting in bed. I agree the alarm thing is not the greatest, because it distrupts our sleep too, but we've just committed to it to try and get him in the routine of getting up. Our three year old on the other hand has a stronger bladder and will get up on his own. We do have occassional accidents. I vowed not to go back to pullups though, because it seemed it like it would give them an excuse to just wet in them. I feel like it just takes consistency and committment on our part as the parent. Not fun! Good luck.
