More cabinet space.

My kitchen is very small. I have a good amount of cabinetry but I need some more space.

I found a pie safe type cabinet at a yard sale for $3. It looked like it would work so I took a chance. I brought it home and discovered that the bottom was all rotted out. (Note, check before buying! :-)

I decided to cut off the bottom and then paint it. I had to use 2 cans of spray paint for $6 to get the outside covered. I ran out of paint and didn't have enough to finish the inside but I think I am going to wait and not spend more money on it now. The door will keep it covered so you won't see it most of the time anyway.

For $9 and about 20 minutes worth of work I have a new cabinet for my kitchen! Yeah! It will give me the extra space I have been wanting for a while.

Hello from Texas. This is Roxie...

An idea..cover the inside with wall paper. I bet you have some in the house from some other job you did...I know I have covered the inside of book cases for my grandson's room and they look so good.

Here is a link to some pictures of a pie safe. They used to use them in the old days to cool things like pies so the bugs wouldn't get to them.

Mine is a smaller version of these.

That's a great idea! And a great find!! We live in a NYC apartment. The kitchens are 'long rooms' length-wise, but not width!! I have a rolling bi-level cart and a microwave cart with some built in spice shelves. Little counter space..ack! Good for you ;).
