Roof Update
We got the roof done last week. I have just been zapped and so I haven't felt like doing much of anything.
It went pretty well. We didn't have any major problems, thankfully! We even had $700 left over that we can live on. With that money we have 3 weeks of living expenses left. I don't know how God did it but our money was supposed to run out in April and it's still going! :-)
The TV station Mike used to work at wants him to work part time for 20 hours a week for 3 months. He will start doing that and then we should be able to live off of that and then some from the book sales. Summer is our slow season so hopefully things will pick up when school starts.
I haven't been getting too much done. David was sick last week and I'm fighting discouragment and what I think is maybe burn-out. I'm not sure, all I know is I don't feel like doing much. Of course it was 108 here yesterday so that doesn't help much.
We are working on getting some new ebooks out and hopefully finish the organizing book (after 2 years! AUGH!) soon.
I will hopefully start up on the blogging again soon.

So glad you were able to do the roof yourself and keep some of the money. Our insurance company 'required' that we hire it done by professionals..what a waste when I had two healthy able body sons and a husband who could have done the work and saved us some money.
I was reading your school supply notes and it was very good. Also wanted to add to it to keep an eye out this time of year for free offers. My grandsons are each getting a free new lunch box and back pack just for going to a baseball game on kids day. Again the cost of their ticket is free when they go with us. Our tickets for this minor league game (the Round Rock Express) is just $8.00 on a Sunday afternoon. We can go and see a game and the kids get a nice gift. There is also free play in the play area for the kids at the game. We will picnic in the parking lot before we go in...
We have done this for a two years now and the lunch box and back pack are very nice. Each has an advertisement on them, Mrs. Baird's bread on the lunch box and Coke on the back pack (last year) but are worth about $40.00 if I had to buy them at Walmart...
Roxie (from Texas)
We luckily live in a rural area where my husband was able to wire our house when we were building it. So it definitely saves a bundle when you are "allowed" to do it yourself...
We signed up at the library for the summer reading program which allowed my kids to each get a backpack, plus tickets to area attractions... and that was well worth the effort of reading the 20 books it required, plus they actually enjoyed it...
Really enjoy reading you blogs and your newsletter..THANKS for all the frugal info!!
