Frugal Birthday.

David turned 3 yesterday! Wow, this has been the fasted and yet at the same time the longest 3 years of my life! LOL

I have to say that 3 is the cutest time for birthday parties. They finally understand what's going so everything is so cool to them!
We just had a family party with us, my mom and brother's family. We had cake and homemade ice cream which was yummy.

Mike and I got him a small bike for $3 at the thrift store and a ball and bat. We spent $8 total for his gifts and then about $10 for the party stuff. $6 of which was for the ice cream! Yikes! It did make a huge batch, I think 4 qts. but still that was expensive. It sure was yummy though!

My kids are 20 and 16 now but when they were younger their birthday parties were always home grown. From just playing soccer outside to making icecream cone christmas trees, they had a blast, and we felt good about it. No need, or money, to rent pooltime, or bowling lanes. My daughters 13 yr old party was a repeat of an earlier party of icecream cone Christmas trees, as per request of the other 13 yr olds.
Makes you feel good to know kids can still appreciate doing good ol kid birthday party stuff.
