We got the kitten.
We decided to go ahead and get the kitchen for BJ for his birthday last week. She is an orange fluffy tabby. She's really cute.
He is doing a good job taking care of her so far. So good that we ran out of plastic grocery sacks because he's cleaning the litter box twice a day! LOL
I did get some spray bottles to squirt her when she scratches on the furniture. I went to look for scratching posts so we could give her that instead of the couch. I about passed out dead when I saw the price!! They wanted $179 for the "deluxe" model and $30 for the "minimum" model! Good Grief! It's some cardboard and carpet how much can that cost?
Mom found one at the thrift store for $2 so we have that one downstairs for her. I needed one upstairs so I was looking for another idea. We have a log right now but it's messy with bark flaking off. I remembered a table I had outside. It's an old table I got at a garage sale for $1. I use it to set my plants on. Well, it will be great to set inside. It's got that "shabby chic" look to it. It's got flat sides for legs so I will put a piece of nice carpet on it for her to scratch and then I will put something fluffy on top and she can sit and look out the window. I can put my plants on it too! I get to kill 3 birds with one stone. I have a scratching post, cat bed and a plant stand all in one! :-)
BTW, her name in Penelope. Penny for short.

You can get a cardboard scratching post scented with catnip for about $5 or $6 dollars at most pet stores. I have 4 cats, they use it all the time and we've had it for over a year with a lot of use left in it.
